Electronic hisses, fizzes, squelching bass and Eleanor Rigby-esque strings announce the arrival of Daniel’s stunning solo album ‘Swallowed A Star’.
As co-founder and main vocalist of seminal electronica collective GusGus, Daníel has already enjoyed a taste of international success. Having toured Europe and the United States several times with GusGus, the group went on to release two critically acclaimed albums, “Polydistortion” (1997 4AD Records) and “This is Normal” (1999 4AD Records) plus a string of hit singles, three of which, written or co-written by Daníel, went to number one in his native Iceland.

Leaving GusGus in order to pursue his own musical path, Daníel has reached a pinnacle of creativity and quality with his own solo album.
The album is a collection of songs Daníel has intricately crafted, composed and orchestrated over an incredible five years. It reunites him with Bix (who has remixed Madonna, Beck & Sigur Ros) after the pair collaborated so successfully on GusGus’ second album “This Is Normal”. The result is a collection of blissful, mini-symphonies with an infectious pop edge.
Daníel and Bix have created a rich tapestry of orchestration, eerie bleeps and rousing soulful vocals.
Together, they have produced something sublime – a 21st century wall of sound as well as something enduringly classic.
