Leaves

Leaves has earned much success and acclaim both on the Icelandic and international music scene. Last year they toured UK with Supergrass. Leaves will play Reykjavik Tropik festival on sat. 3rd June.

Leaves, the Icelandic four piece whose debut album Breathe garnered across-the-board critical acclaim on its release in 2002, are back with a new album on a new label.

The Angela Test, their second album, sounds like a quantum leap too. The majestic arrangements, elemental beauty and soaring melodies that so impressed on their debut are still there. But this time there’s a new confidence, a spirit of adventure and an audacity that suggests a group that know its time has come.
Recorded at the band’s own studio in Reykjavik with Massive Attack’s producer Marius De Vries, The Angela Test saw Leaves take a far more democratic approach to their song writing than on previous recordings. With each band member playing a part in the song writing process the new album developed depths and nuances only hinted at on their debut.

Leaves are currently in the studio working on their third album, taking their dark and phsycadelic sound further. The band has developed a very powerful live show  through constant touring in the past years supporting bands like: Supergrass. Doves, Stereophonics, The Coral and The Secret Machines.

“Final track, Shoud Have Seen It All, uses the novel sample of builders dynamiting an underground car park to create a sound that is quite profound, yet it merely serves to underline the fact that Leaves seldom operate on a small scale.”

“Only a place as surreal and magical as Iceland could spawn a band special enough to really deserve the honoured title of The New Radiohead.”
